IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, the seventh Day of January Anno Domini One thousand
seven Hundred & sixty four I Joseph Goghenour of hembfielt Township in the
County of Lancaster & Province of pennsylvanis yeoman am very sick & weak in
Body but of perfect mind & Memory thanks be given unto God therefore caling
unto mind the Mortality of my Body and Knewing that i is Appointed for all
Men once to die Do macke & ordain this my last Will & Testament that is to say
principally & first of all I give & Recoment my soul into the Hands of God that
Gave it and for my Body I rocoment it to be buried to the Earth in a Christian
Like Descent manner at the discretion of my Executors nothlng doubting, but at
the Genera Resurection I shall receive the same aga in by the Mighty power of God
and a s touching such Worldly Estate wherewith lt hath pleased God to bless me
in my life time I give & dispose of the same in the followlng manner & form
IMPRIMIS it is my will & I do order that in the first place all my Just Debts &
funeral Charges be paid & Satisfied Item I give and bequeath unto my Sons Joseph
Goghenower Two Sons named Henry & Joseph goghenour Two hundret Acres of Land on
the Plantation where I live now together with all the Buildlngs thereon in
Hempfield Townshlp Lancaster for them their Heirs & Assigns forever Item I give
& bequeath unto my son ln law John Newcomer one Hundred and Fifty Acres of Land
on the South side of my Plantation where I live now Item I appraise the afore-
said two Hundred Acres of Land to my two aforesaid Sons, Sons Henry & Joseph
Goghenour to the value of Eight Hundred pounds lawful Money of Pennsylvan is
Item I appraise the said one hundred & fifty Acres of Land unto my Son in law
John Newcomer to the Value of six Hundred pounds lawful Money aforesd. Item it
is my wlll & I do ordain that my son in Law John Newcomer shall pay out of his
plantation yearly the Sum of Thirty pounds lawful Money of Pennsylvsnia to the
Rest of my Children till he stands in equal Shares with them Item I do ordain
that my said Son in Law John Newcomer Shall deliver unto my beloved Wife
Elizabeth fifteen Bushels of Wheat Yearly During her widowhood item I glve &
bequeath unto my deceased sons Wife Magdalena the sum of one hundred pounds
lawful Money of Pennsylvanla to be payd to her as Soon as she Acquits and
Discharge my Plantation by my hereafter Executors Item I give and bequeath unto
my well beloved Wife Elizabeth the sum of One Hundred Pounds Lawful money of
Pennsylvania & whatever she brought over to me she shall have a right to take
away before my division is made Item it is my wlll and I do ordaln that my said
Beloved Wife Elizabeth shall have Yearly during her Widowhood Five Bushels of
Wheat & five Bushels of Rye one hundred pounds of Pork and the half pork and the
half of Apples of my orchart next to my dwelllng House and the half part of
the Meadow Towards John Huber and twelve pounds of heckled Hemp and twelve pounds
of Heckled Flax Two Cows which she chooses of mine and my mare and food for the
said Creatures shall be delivered out of the Plantation to my said Wife Elizs-
beth and three sheep during her Widowhood Item it is my will & I do hereby im-
power my hereafter my hereafter mentioned Executors for me and in my name to
Execute make Seal & deliver of good and Lawful Deeds unto my said son in Law
John Newcomer his Heirs & Assigns forever and to my said deceased Sons Children
Viz Henry & Joseph Goghenower their Heirs & Assigns forever Item it is my wlll
& I do ordain that my deceased Sons Wife Magdalena shall have yearly during her
widowhood twenty Bushels of Wheat & five Bushels of Rye and four Sheep & two
Cows & food for the said Cows & one mare shall be delivered unto her during her
Widowhood out of my plantation further my sayd Sons wife shall have yearly during
her wldowhood sixty pound of Broken Hemp one hundret pound wt. of pork and the
Little Orchard behind the House or the use thereof Item it is my Wlll and I do
ordain that all my Children shall in here equaly of me in share & share alike
Item it is my will & I do ordain that my said Wife Elizsbeth shall have my
Garden which I had in my life time for her own use and my sald sons Wife Magda-
lena shall her Garden which she had before for her own use during their Widow-
hood Item I constitute make & ordain my two friends John Coffman & John Huber
for my only & Sole Executors of this my last Wlll & Testament and I do hereby
utterly disallow Revoke and disanul all my former Will & Testsments but Rati-
fylng & confirming this my last Will & Testament IN WITNEFS whereof I have set

Goghenour as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us the Subscribers

LANCASTER COUNTY FS. On the twenty fourth day of January Ann Domiil 1764 Before
me the Subscriber personally appeared Jacob Lentz & Jacob Immel the two Sub-
fcribing Witnefses to the within Will and on their Solemn affirmation did de-
clare & Say that they were present & saw & Heard Joseph Goghenour the testator
within named Sign Seal publish Pronounce & declare the within writing as & for
his Last Wlll & Testsment and that at the doing thereof he was of found & well
disposing mind Memory and understandlng to the best of their knowledge Obser-
vation & Belief.

BE IT REMEMBRED that on the twenty fourth day of January Anno Domlnl 1764, The
Last Will & Testament of Joseph Goghenour late of hempfield Township in the
County of Lancaster Yeomen deceased was proved in due for of Law and Letters
Testamentary thereon were granted to John Coffman & John Huber the Executors
therein named they being first duly Qualified well & truly to Administer the
Estate of the said decedent and to Exhibit a true & perfect Inventory thereof
into the Registers office at Lancaster on or before the twenty fourth day of
February next & to render a true & Just Acount of thelr Administration when
thereto Lawfully Required Given under the seal of the said office
